GSPO Compliance and Safety

Our Swim Teaching Platforms are fully compliant with the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations (GSPOs) set by the Royal Life Saving Society Australia (RLSSA).

GSPOs vs our Swim Teaching Platform Specifications

7.7.7

Teaching platforms should be inspected regularly to ensure that they are in good condition, are structurally sound and have no sharp edges

The teaching platform is manufactured with rounded edges on all surfaces. As per the operations manual daily inspections of the teaching platform should be performed prior to the teaching platform being placed into the pool

7.7.8

The edges of the teaching platform should be a contrasting colour to the bottom of the pool to allow students to easily tell where the edge of the platform is

The teaching platform is a hi-vis yellow that contrasts with the pool bottom

7.7.9

The teaching platforms should ensure visibility beneath them or manufactured so that people are prevented from swimming beneath them

The swim teaching platform sits on stable legs that supports the platform. *As per the assembly instructions there is a minimum height for the legs. The minimum height allows swim teachers, lifeguards and pool side staff to see below the platform. It is vital that swim instructors, lifeguards & poolside staff as part of their duties continually scan both around and below the swim teaching platform

7.7.10

The teaching platform should be made of a material that does not absorb water

The swim teaching platform is made of HDPE hard plastic and will not absorb water. The legs and handrails are an ABS plastic and will not absorb water. When assembled correctly joints will not allow ingress of water

7.7.11

The teaching platform should be self-draining and allowed to dry fully overnight before being used again to ensure they do not retain stagnant water and risk becoming a source of infection

The technique to remove the swim teaching platform as described in the operations manual has the water wash off the platform as it is removed from the pool. The swim teaching platform will dry overnight, many facilities place the swim teaching platform on their side to assist drying and prevent people sitting/jumping on the swim teaching platform when not being used in the pool.

7.7.12

Care should be taken when moving a teaching platform, either within the pool or out of the pool due to their weight and difficult handling characteristics

The swim teaching platform is fitted with non-marking wheels to assist manoeuvring the swim teaching platform
